How the walking tour works
All you need is a phone. Follow the story, move between real locations in Óbidos, look around the town, find the right points and collect witness statements.
The tour is completely self-guided: start whenever you like, stop whenever you want and continue at your own pace.
What you will see
The route runs through the historic centre of Óbidos, past medieval walls, old streets, churches and small historic buildings. Some locations are only steps away from the main tourist route but are easy to miss on an ordinary walk.
We deliberately do not publish the exact route here — investigating the crime is more fun when you do not know where the next clue will take you.
How long does it take?
The route is a little over one kilometre long and includes slopes and steps.
The experience is designed to be taken at your own pace. You can stop to explore historic buildings, enter places that are open to visitors, spend time at the castle or take a break. The whole experience can take half an hour or two hours — the tour will wait for you.
What you need
There is no app to install: the tour runs directly in your phone’s browser. You will need an internet connection at the beginning to download the materials. In some challenges you can use your phone’s camera to find the right place. Camera access is optional; without it, those challenges are skipped. Images from the camera never leave your device and are not stored.
Is it a tour or a game?
Both. The route takes place in the real town of Óbidos and introduces short stories and curious facts about real places and events. The mystery and its characters, however, are fictional.
Instead of simply reading about the town, you move between interesting locations yourself and gradually uncover the story.

The beginning of the tour is free. Try the first part, see whether you enjoy the format, and only then decide whether you want to continue the investigation.

Óbidos is an old town with steep slopes, cobblestones and steps. Some parts of the route may be difficult to access for people with limited mobility and may require assistance.
